Security & Confidentiality
Confidentiality is part of the service, not an afterthought
Much of what we translate is confidential, and a great deal of it contains personal data: patient records, insurance claims, litigation files, unpublished financial material. Our arrangements were built for that from the start.
Encrypted throughout
Files reach us and leave us over encrypted channels and are held in encrypted storage. Our mail infrastructure is hosted in Germany with transport and storage encryption, and work in progress is held on EU-hosted storage.
No machine translation of confidential material
We do not pass client material through public or cloud machine-translation services. Where post-editing is agreed as a service, it uses approved engines under a separate written arrangement.
A small, named chain of people
Every linguist and partner is vetted before selection and bound by written confidentiality terms before any file is released. Access is limited to those working on your project, and you can ask at any time who has handled your material.
Paperwork ready before you ask
An Article 28 data processing agreement, a current sub-processor list, Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers outside the EEA and a documented Transfer Impact Assessment are available on request. Where you prefer, we work from redacted or pseudonymised material, or restrict processing to EU-hosted infrastructure.
How we are set up: Termwise operates a distributed model: a European founder, specialist linguists across Europe, EU-hosted data infrastructure, and a project-management base outside the EU. One practical consequence is useful to clients: work sent at European close of business is generally back before the next morning.
